FAQs

  • As your counsellor, my priority is to create a safe and comfortable space for you to show up authentically as you are. I practice from a person-centered and collaborative approach meaning your voice is always the most important one in the room. In my work I draw from various modalities including emotion-focused therapy, attachment-based therapy and narrative therapy.

  • In a first session it is normal to feel various emotions, perhaps excitement, nerves, anticipation. What is most important is that you know that there is no “right” or “wrong” way for you to show up to therapy. Some clients will know exactly what they want to talk about, whereas others may feel slightly unsure where to start. In our first session, my goal is to start to get to know your world by asking questions and actively listening. In addition, we will cover consent and limits to confidentiality and discuss a possible plan for session frequency and duration.

  • Our counselling sessions are entirely confidentiality, meaning what you say in the room, stays in the room. However, there are mandated limits to confidentiality in the following circumstances:

    • I believe you are at imminent or serious risk to harm yourself or others.

    • I believe a child or vulnerable adult is at risk of or is being abused.

    • I am officially subpoenaed in a court case.

Given the nature of living in a small community, in order to protect your privacy, I will not acknowledge you in the community unless you acknowledge me.

In our first session we will discuss how to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident that your confidentiality is upheld.

  • Counselling offered by Registered Clinical Counsellors is often covered through extended medical plans. Please check with your benefits provider to see if you are covered. A receipt with my registration number will be provided for reimbursement. Direct billing for counselling is not an option yet in BC.

  • In order to make counselling accessible for those who experience financial barriers, I offer sliding scale for individuals who qualify. Please ask about this option if you require financial assistance.

  • I work out of two beautiful clinic locations, one in Pemberton, BC and the other in Squamish, BC. For more information on the exact location, click ‘contact & book online’ at the top of this page
